Equipment

  • 1 cast iron skillet 12-inch recommended
  • 1 Mixing Bowl large
  • 1 Whisk
  • 1 Rolling Pin

Ingredients

Dough

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup warm water

Toppings

  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni slices
  • 1/4 cup sliced bell peppers
  • 1/4 cup sliced mushrooms

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Gradually add warm water, mixing until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 475°F. Ensure your cast iron skillet is clean and dry.

Cooking

  • Heat a tablespoon of oil in the skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, place the dough in the skillet, pressing it to the edges.
  • Cook the dough on the stovetop for about 3 minutes, or until the bottom begins to brown.
  • Spread pizza sauce over the dough, then sprinkle with cheese. Add pepperoni, bell peppers, and mushrooms.
  • Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and the crust is golden.

Finishing

  • Remove the skillet from the oven and let the pizza cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve hot.
  • Store leftover pizza in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven for the best texture.
