Equipment

  • 1 pizza stone or baking sheet for baking
  • 1 Rolling Pin for rolling out dough
  • 1 Mixing Bowl large

Ingredients

Dough

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast 2 1/4 tsp
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm water 110°F
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Toppings

  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Stir well to distribute the yeast evenly.
  • Gradually add the warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until the dough begins to come together.

Kneading and Rising

  • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Assembling the Pizza

  • Preheat your oven to 475°F. If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.
  • Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer to a pizza stone or baking sheet.
  • Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese on top.
  • Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and browned.

Serving and Storage

  • Once baked, remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Slice into 8 pieces and serve warm.
  • Store any leftover slices in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or a toaster oven for best results.
