Equipment

  • 1 pizza stone or baking sheet for baking
  • 1 Large mixing bowl
  • 1 Rolling Pin

Ingredients

Pizza Dough

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Pizza Sauce

  • 1 can 14 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Toppings

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 1/2 cup sliced bell peppers

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil, mixing until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth. Place in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
  • In a saucepan, combine crushed tomatoes, garlic, oregano, and basil. Simmer over medium heat for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season with salt and pepper to taste, then set aside.
  • After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out onto a pizza stone or baking sheet. Ensure the dough is evenly spread with a slight border for the crust.
  • Spread a layer of pizza sauce over the dough, leaving the border untouched. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce, then add pepperoni and bell peppers as desired.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) to ensure it reaches the right temperature before baking the pizza.
  • Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes. The pizza is done when the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.

Serving

  • Allow the pizza to cool slightly before slicing. Serve each slice with your choice of sides or enjoy it on its own!

Storage

  • Store any leftover pizza in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave before serving.
