Ingredients

Pasta and Base Ingredients

  • 400 g spaghetti
  • 6 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • 1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Garnish and Seasoning

  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving (optional)

Instructions

Cooking the Pasta

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  • Add the spaghetti and cook until al dente.
  • Reserve a bit of the cooking water, then drain the spaghetti.

Making the Sauce

  • While the pasta cooks, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the sliced garlic and sauté until golden brown.
  • Stir in the red pepper flakes.

Combining and Serving

  • Pour the drained pasta into the skillet and toss it with the garlic oil.
  • Add reserved cooking water gradually to achieve desired sauce consistency.
  • Season with salt and black pepper, then stir in the chopped parsley.
  • Serve immediately, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.

Notes

For a milder garlic flavor, reduce the cooking time for the garlic. You can also add cooked chicken or shrimp for heartiness, or swap spaghetti for your favorite pasta type.
