Equipment

  • 1 baking sheet or pizza stone
  • 1 Mixing Bowl large
  • 1 Rolling Pin

Ingredients

Pizza Dough

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt

Toppings

  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 8 oz turkey sausage sliced
  • 1/2 cup sliced bell peppers
  • 1/4 cup sliced olives
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water, then sprinkle yeast over the top. Let it stand until frothy, about 5 minutes. Stir in olive oil, salt, and flour to form a dough. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth and elastic. Place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 60 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 475°F.
  • Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to fit your baking sheet or pizza stone.
  • Spread tomato sauce over the rolled-out dough, then sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Arrange turkey sausage slices, bell peppers, and olives over the top. Sprinkle with red pepper flakes for added heat.

Serving

  • Transfer the pizza to the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before slicing.
  • Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving. Slice and enjoy your homemade Turkey Sausage Pizza.

Storage

  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven for best results.
