Equipment

  • 1 pizza stone for a crispy crust
  • 1 Baking Sheet if not using a pizza stone
  • 1 Mixing Bowl large

Ingredients

Pizza Dough

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt

Toppings

  • 1 pint cherry tomatoes halved
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy. Add flour, sugar, salt, and olive oil. Mix until dough forms a ball.
  • Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  • Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven as it heats.

Assembling the Pizza

  • On a floured surface, roll out the dough to a 12-inch circle. Transfer it to a pizza stone or baking sheet.
  • Drizzle olive oil over the dough. Arrange cherry tomatoes and mozzarella slices evenly over the top. Sprinkle with salt and scatter basil leaves.

Baking

  • Place the pizza in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

Serving

  • Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool slightly, then slice and serve immediately.

Storage

  • Wrap any leftover pizza in aluminum foil and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
