Equipment

  • 1 Baking Sheet lined with parchment paper
  • 1 Mixing Bowl large
  • 1 Rolling Pin

Ingredients

Flatbread Base

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt

Toppings

  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 medium tomatoes thinly sliced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese optional

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, and salt. Gradually add warm water and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.
  • Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm area for 30 minutes.
  • While the dough rises, thinly slice the tomatoes and mince the garlic. Set aside.
  • Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out into a flat, round shape on a floured surface.
  • Place the rolled dough on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Spread olive oil on the surface, then sprinkle with minced garlic. Arrange tomato slices evenly on top. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Bake the flatbread for 15-20 minutes, until the edges are golden brown and tomatoes are caramelized.

Serving

  • Allow the flatbread to cool slightly, slice into pieces, and serve warm. Enjoy as is or with your favorite dip.

Storage

  • Store any leftover slices in an airtight container. Refrigerate for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven for best texture.
