Equipment

  • 1 pizza stone optional, for crispy crust
  • 1 Rolling Pin
  • 1 Mixing Bowl large

Ingredients

Dough Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Toppings

  • 2 roasted red peppers sliced
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Add warm water and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.
  • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled.
  • Preheat your oven to 450°F. Place the red peppers on a baking sheet and roast until charred, turning occasionally. Once cooled, peel and slice them.
  • Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a 12-inch circle.
  • Spread pizza sauce over the rolled-out dough. Arrange the roasted peppers, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese evenly on top.

Serving

  • Transfer the assembled pizza to a preheated pizza stone. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
  • Remove from the oven, sprinkle with fresh basil leaves, slice, and serve hot.

Storage

  • Wrap any leftover slices in aluminum foil or place in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days.
  • To reheat, place slices in a preheated oven or toaster oven until warmed through.
