Equipment

  • 1 pizza stone for best results
  • 1 Rolling Pin
  • 1 Baking Sheet

Ingredients

Pizza Dough

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt

Toppings

  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1/2 fennel bulb thinly sliced
  • 1/2 lb chicken sausage cooked and sliced
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese grated

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, mix together flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Gradually add warm water and olive oil, stirring until a dough forms. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • While the dough rises, pre-cook the chicken sausage in a skillet over medium heat. Once cooked, slice into rounds. Thinly slice the fennel bulb and shred the mozzarella cheese.

Serving

  • Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer to a baking sheet or pizza stone. Spread tomato sauce over the dough, followed by an even layer of mozzarella cheese. Add the sliced fennel and chicken sausage. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
  • Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before slicing.
  • Cut the pizza into slices and serve hot. Pair with a side salad or your favorite beverage for a complete meal.

Storage

  • Store any leftover pizza in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) until warmed through.
