Equipment

  • 1 Large pot for boiling pasta
  • 1 Large skillet for cooking chicken
  • 1 9x13-inch baking dish

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ziti pasta
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts cut into cubes
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese grated

Optional Add-ins

  • 1 cup mushrooms sliced
  • 1 cup spinach chopped

Instructions

Preparation

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add ziti pasta and cook until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chicken cubes, season with salt and pepper, and cook until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, combine cooked pasta, chicken, marinara sauce, and half of the mozzarella cheese. Mix well until everything is coated with sauce.
  • Pour the pasta mixture into a 9x13 inch baking dish. Top with remaining mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serving

  • Let the baked ziti rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.

Storage

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave before serving.

Notes

Substitute chicken with turkey for a leaner option. How to Serve: Serve with a side salad or garlic bread. Storage & Freshness: Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
