Ingredients
  

For the coffee mixture

  • 1 cup brewed espresso or strong coffee, cooled
  • 3 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional) For an extra flavor boost.

For the mascarpone mixture

  • 3 large eggs, separated Use fresh eggs for the best flavor.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar Adjust according to taste.
  • 2 cups mascarpone cheese Must be at room temperature.
  • 1 cup heavy cream Can be substituted with whipped coconut cream for a dairy-free option.

For assembly and garnish

  • 1 package ladyfinger cookies Homemade can add a special touch.
  • Cocoa powder for dusting
  • Chocolate shavings for garnish (optional)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a shallow dish, combine the brewed espresso and coffee liqueur. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar until pale and creamy. Add the mascarpone cheese and mix until smooth.
  • In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form, then gently fold them into the mascarpone mixture.

Assembly

  • Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture and place them in a single layer in a 9×13 inch dish.
  • Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
  • Repeat the layers with the remaining ladyfingers and mascarpone mixture.

Chilling

  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  • Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and garnish with chocolate shavings if desired.

Notes

The dessert is best served chilled and can be made a day ahead to enhance flavor. Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days. Optionally, garnish with fresh berries for a vibrant touch.
