Equipment

  • 1 Large skillet
  • 1 Large pot
  • 1 Cutting Board for chopping basil

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 12 oz pasta such as penne or fettuccine
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can 28 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves chopped

Optional Add-Ins

  • 1 cup sautéed mushrooms
  • 1 cup spinach leaves
  • 1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup roasted bell peppers

Instructions

Preparation

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes. Add crushed tomatoes and bring to a simmer. Stir in heavy cream and let the sauce thicken for about 5-7 minutes. Add grated Parmesan cheese, stirring until fully melted and creamy. Season with salt and pepper.
  • In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta.
  • Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the sauce. Toss to combine, adding reserved pasta water as needed to reach desired sauce consistency. Stir in chopped fresh basil just before serving.

Serving

  • Serve the pasta warm, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese and fresh basil. Pair with a salad or garlic bread for a complete meal.

Storage

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stove, adding a splash of cream or milk to refresh the sauce.
