Equipment

  • 1 Large skillet
  • 1 Large pot
  • 1 Colander

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 12 oz linguine
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb mushrooms sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley chopped, for garnish

Optional Ingredients

  • Pinch of red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup vegetable broth optional
  • 1/4 cup toasted pine nuts optional
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice optional

Instructions

Preparation

  • Clean and slice the mushrooms evenly. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add mushrooms and cook until golden brown, about 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
  • Add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 1 minute. Pour in heavy cream and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 5 minutes, then stir in Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
  • In a large pot, cook linguine in salted boiling water until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water, then drain.
  • Add cooked linguine to the skillet with mushroom sauce. Toss to coat, adding reserved pasta water as needed for desired consistency.

Serving

  • Divide pasta among plates. Garnish with fresh parsley and additional Parmesan cheese, if desired. Serve immediately.

Storage

  • Transfer leftover pasta to an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop or microwave, adding a splash of cream or water to loosen the sauce.

Notes

Pro Tips: Use fresh mushrooms for the best flavor, and be sure to cook them until all moisture is released for a rich sauce.
Ingredient Substitutions: Use half-and-half for a lighter sauce, or gluten-free pasta for dietary needs.
How to Serve: Pair with a side salad or crusty bread.
Storage & Freshness: Keep refrigerated and consume within 3 days for the best taste.
Make-Ahead Tips: Prepare the sauce in advance and store separately from the pasta, combining when ready to serve.
