Equipment

  • 1 Large skillet
  • 1 Wooden spoon
  • 1 measuring cups

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 pound boneless chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped

Instructions

Preparation

  • Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Cook the chicken for about 6-7 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant. Add orzo pasta and toast slightly, stirring frequently. Pour in chicken broth, bring to a simmer, and cook until orzo is al dente and has absorbed most of the liquid.
  • Reduce heat to low, stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese. Mix until the cheese melts and the sauce is smooth. Return the chicken to the skillet, coating it with the sauce.
  • Allow the dish to simmer gently for a couple more minutes to let the flavors meld. Sprinkle chopped basil and parsley on top before serving.

Serving

  • Serve the Italian Chicken Orzo immediately, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese if desired.

Storage

  • Transfer any leftovers to an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stove with a splash of cream or broth to restore the sauce's creaminess.
