Equipment

  • 1 Baking Sheet or pizza stone
  • 1 Mixing Bowl large
  • 1 Rolling Pin

Ingredients

Dough Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Toppings

  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 1 tbsp fresh oregano leaves
  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme leaves
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let stand until foamy, about 5 minutes. Stir in flour, salt, and olive oil. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 8-10 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 60 minutes.
  • Punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface to the desired thickness. Transfer to a baking sheet or pizza stone.

Assembling the Pizza

  • Preheat the oven to 475°F. Drizzle olive oil over the rolled-out dough. Sprinkle minced garlic evenly, followed by mozzarella slices. Scatter fresh herbs and red pepper flakes over the cheese. Season with salt.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before slicing.

Serving

  • Slice the pizza into 8 pieces. Serve hot, garnished with extra fresh basil if desired.

Storage

  • Allow the pizza to cool completely. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven for best results.
