Equipment

  • 1 10-inch cast iron skillet well-seasoned
  • 1 Mixing Bowl large
  • 1 Rolling Pin

Ingredients

Pizza Dough

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Toppings

  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 1/4 cup sliced bell peppers

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, and salt. Slowly add warm water and olive oil, stirring until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 10 minutes until smooth. Place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
  • Preheat your oven to 475°F. Place the cast iron skillet in the oven to heat while preparing the pizza.
  • Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a floured surface to fit the size of your skillet. Carefully remove the hot skillet from the oven and coat it with a thin layer of olive oil.
  • Lay the dough in the skillet, pressing it to cover the bottom evenly. Spread the tomato sauce over the dough, then sprinkle with mozzarella. Add pepperoni and bell peppers as desired.
  • Place the skillet back in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and the crust is golden.
  • Remove the skillet from the oven and let the pizza cool for a few minutes. Slice and serve warm for the best flavor.

Storage

  • Allow any leftover pizza to cool completely. Store slices in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat leftover pizza in a preheated oven at 350°F for 5-7 minutes until warm.
