Equipment

  • 1 Bowl for mixing glaze
  • 8 skewers wooden or metal

Ingredients

Skewers

  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella balls bocconcini or ciliegine
  • 1 pint cherry tomatoes
  • 1 bunch fresh basil leaves

Balsamic Glaze

  • 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tbsp honey

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a small saucepan, combine balsamic vinegar and honey. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to low and simmer until mixture thickens, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
  • Rinse and dry cherry tomatoes and basil leaves. If mozzarella balls are large, slice them in half for better skewer balance.
  • On each skewer, thread one mozzarella ball, one basil leaf, and one cherry tomato. Repeat the pattern until the skewer is filled, ending with a cherry tomato for presentation.

Serving

  • Arrange skewers on a platter. Drizzle generously with cooled balsamic glaze. Serve immediately or refrigerate until serving time.
  • Store any leftover skewers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. The glaze may thicken further upon refrigeration.

Notes

Pro Tips: Ensure your mozzarella balls are fresh and of high quality. Ingredient Substitutions: Try using heirloom tomatoes or adding a slice of prosciutto for variation. How to Serve: Serve chilled or at room temperature. Storage & Freshness: Best enjoyed fresh; store leftovers in an airtight container. Make-Ahead Tips: Prepare the skewers a day ahead without the glaze; add glaze before serving.
