Ingredients
  

Meatloaf Layer

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup grated onion
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/3 cup ketchup

Mac and Cheese Layer

  • 2 cups elbow macaroni dry
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a baking dish.
  • Mix meatloaf ingredients gently and press evenly into the baking dish.
  • Cook macaroni until just tender and drain.
  • Prepare cheese sauce and fold in macaroni.
  • Spread mac and cheese over meatloaf and bake until bubbly and golden.
  • Rest casserole before slicing and serving.

Notes

Allow the casserole to rest before slicing so the layers set properly.
